In all the excitment of last weekend's rolling over, I forgot to tell about Elijah's first Symphony concert. Last Sunday the Symphony had a free concert in the park at the Organ Pavillion. So took Elijah. It was very hot and sunny and the only shade was to the right of the stage, so we found a spot. I decided to hold him because I wasn't sure how he would react to the orchestra. The first piece was the opening of Also sprach Zarathustra . Um, yeah, he was not a fan. I bet you did not know there were vocals to that piece, but Elijah knew all the words and the rest of the audience also heard them (well, the ones around us, his cries weren't loud enough to drowned out the entire orchestra). So we spent the rest of the concert walking around the perimeter of the organ pavillion. He seemed to do fine at a distance during the rest of the concert.
It has been very warm (by San Diego standards) this week and yesterday was no exception. After running around most of the day, we went to Coronado in the evening. We walked around the beach and saw about seven weddings going on. We put Elijah's feet in the ocean. He seemed truly unimpressed even with the cold water.

Interesting you should say that about a vocal part. I looked up in one of my old music history books about Also Spracht Zarathustra. It said that in an early version, there was a vocal part. It was discarded because it couldn't be heard over the instrumentation. A copy was found stored next to Tchaichowski's lost Sailor Dance from The Nutcracker.
