Now I don't pretend to be Miss Manners or anything but sometimes I just have to say "Really?" Do people realize how rude they are being? Or do they just not care? And I don't know, maybe when you have a kid, you loose all modesty so people think they can ask you anything. Yes, in my hospital room I had doctors, nurses, lactation consultants and my husband trying to nurse with basically a hand towel covering me but that does not give you liberty to ask rude questions. Here are some of the ridiculous questions I've been asked in the last 17 months or so:
1. You're pregnant! Were you trying or was it an accident? (Someone in the room actually called them out on the inappropriateness of this but another person asked me this too)
2. Should you be drinking coffee when you're pregnant? (p.s. it was hot chocolate, but still not your business)
3. Oh, you're back from maternity leave and hey all the weight is gone (this one directly from an executive director)
4. So are you going to have more kids?
5. Are you worried about finding a job? Oh, don't worry about it, just enjoy spending time with your baby. (yeah, because I don't have bills to pay or anything)
Now some of these things are okay for family members or good friends to ask (sometimes) but these were all said to me by aquaintences. In the words of one of my favorite comedians "I can't believe I have to get angry about this sh!t!"
